LEWES ARTISANS is no more... LONG LIVE Lewes artisans
The former site, a "web directory of local tradespeople, artists, makers, musicians, practitioners and more..." no longers exists.
During the last 6 years, Lewes Artisans has grown from just seven local tradespeople to well over a hundred. Our membership included builders, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, artists, potters, graphic designers, photographers, homeopaths, osteopaths, alternative therapists, musicians, accountants, garden designers, tree surgeons, etc etc. the list was endless...
Sadly, we became a victim of our own success! As the organisation grew, so did the workload. Plus, in 2000 the idea of an internet directory of local tradespeople was unique.
Not any more. As a result, we have made the decision to close down the Lewes Artisans directory.
We would like to thank all those members of the public who have supported us during the last 6 years.
Thank you also to the many local groups who have helped us grow and promote our name: Fran Whittle at Lewes News, Tina Deubert at Lewes Farmers’ Market, Ruth O’Keeffe for the Societies Fair, the Sussex Express and all the local traders who have displayed our Directories and leaflets.
(Please note the former site's closure does not affect the individual artisans themselves – they will NOT cease to trade – they all run their own, independent businesses and can be contacted at their usual numbers.)
Remember, please keep supporting your local artisans!
We do not intend this to be a static site. Simon has put this site together, but he has not finished. We would like more material, especially pictures, memories, stories etc. from you, artisans, ex-artisans and people of Lewes and beyond.
